Old Stobie Mine (1874-78) |

A open cut, adit, and shaft all done my James Stobie between the years 1874 and 1878. You can drive to the Stobie farm that is still owned by the Stobie family. We drove there, stopped and asked the Stobie family for permission to go through their access road to see the sight. They were pleased to allow us through. Unfortunately due to significant deciduous tree overgrowth, we were only able to find what looked like a caved in adit. It was raining heavy that day, so our venture was not pleasing. The bugs were hungry as well! |
